Home office readiness
- Main work room has strong Wi-Fi or wired Ethernet.
- Upload speed is enough for video calls, screen sharing, cloud files, and backups.
- Latency is acceptable for VPN, remote desktop, voice calls, and meetings.
- Router, modem, and work computer have surge protection or battery backup if needed.
- Phone hotspot or second connection is available for urgent work.
- Employer or IT support has confirmed any VPN or security requirements.
- Large cloud backups and updates are scheduled outside important meeting times.
Work test
Do not judge a rural connection only by a speed test. Try a real video call, upload a work file, connect to the VPN, and use your normal remote tools during the hours you normally work.
